Delete account & data

Request deletion of your account and data.

Safer City Sentinel is a professional responder tool, licensed per organisation. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time. This page explains how to request it, what is removed, and what we must keep to meet the law.

If you're a responder using Sentinel

You can request that your individual account and personal data be deleted in either of these ways:

  • Ask your organisation's Sentinel administrator to remove your access, or
  • Email us directly and we'll verify and process it — we may route it to your organisation where their agreement requires it.

We verify your identity (we may ask one or two follow-up questions), deactivate your access on verification, and complete deletion within 30 days — subject to the legal retention below.

If you're the organisation's account holder

To delete your organisation's Sentinel account and its data, your authorised administrator or billing contact should email us. We'll confirm scope, handle any legal retention, and confirm completion by email.

What gets deleted

On a verified responder deletion request, we remove from our active systems immediately (and from backups within 30 days):

  • Your name, email, phone number, and login credentials (password hash)
  • Your responder profile, call sign, staff/company number and profile photo
  • Push notification tokens and device/session identifiers
  • Your live and recent location breadcrumbs

Note on ANPR/LPR: number-plate scans are not stored on your phone — the operational record lives on the organisation's Prometheus platform and belongs to the organisation, so it is handled under the organisation's agreement and POPIA, not deleted from a single responder request.

What is kept (and for how long)

Some records are retained after deletion to meet the law, maintain chain-of-custody for dispatched or evidential events, and support investigations. Where kept, records are restricted to authorised purposes and de-identified where possible.

DataRetentionWhy
Operational records the organisation owns (patrol / occurrence-book / incident / dispatch outcomes)Per the organisation's service agreement & lawThese belong to the organisation, not the individual responder; chain-of-custody & investigations
Evidence captured on duty (photos, ANPR reads on Prometheus)Per organisation policy & legal holdEvidential value; defensibility of dispatched events
Security & audit logs (IP, anomaly events)Up to 1 yearDetect and prevent fraud and abuse
Backups30 daysOperational recovery; cycled out within 30 days

If a legal hold, dispute, or active investigation involves your data, retention may be extended until that matter closes.
